Coonoor is a beautiful hill station tucked away in the Nilgiris in South India. Located at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, this is a heavenly escapade from the heat of the plains during summer time.
Coonoor is the second largest hill station in the South. Situated very close to is the famous Ooty hill station. Often, tourists who come here, opt for a package by which they can see both hill stations. The climate in Coonoor is milder than what is experienced in Ooty. Coonoor can be reached by car and by train from Mettupalayam, located in Coimbatore. The nearest international airport is in Coimbatore.
This is the perfect place to come for sporty activities such as hiking or trekking. This hill station shows off an exotic natural beauty and is famous for its bird varieties such as skylarks, thrushes, parakeets and much more. Many people also come here for bird watching.
One of the things that Coonoor is famous for is its production of Nilgiris Tea. Tourists coming here would never go without an experience a taste of this famous world class tea. The Tea board of India has a branch office here.
